Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) are group-focused programs for adults with dual diagnosis(co-occurring psychiatric and substance use) disorders. PHPs provide highly structured, short-term intensive treatment. PHPs either continue the stabilization and treatment initiated on an inpatient unit, or function as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization. Patients receive focused, goal oriented treatment to facilitate stabilization of symptoms in a less restrictive, non-institutional environment.
The Psychiatric and Dual Diagnosis Partial Hospitalization Programs are offered five days a week, Monday through Friday 12 noon to 5 pm
Stabilization of acute symptoms promoting progress towards recovery
Case management including individual check-ins, contact with outpatient clinicians and family members, and transition planning
Learning about specific cognitive and behavioral skills for managing symptoms
For clients with addiction, encourage the development of recovery through AA or NA as part of a relapse prevention plan
The treatment team works with the patient, and his or her family, to develop an appropriate discharge and aftercare plan. The goal is to assist the client in maintaining healthy coping through ongoing treatment. The discharge and aftercare plan may include a step down to other services within the agency and referrals to other community based programs.
